AI Disclosure Language
Legal basis: FCC 24-17 (AI voice = "artificial voice" under the TCPA); Cal. Bus. & Prof. Code 17940–17943 (BOT Act); Utah AI Policy Act (Utah Code 13-75); FTC Act §5 (deception); Colorado AI Act (SB 24-205, as delayed to June 30 2026) for high-risk decisions (not our use case, but monitor). See sms-consent.md §5 for the operating rule.
Scope: mandatory for every agent and every business type on every channel (SMS, voice, email, web chat, social DMs). Customers cannot turn it off. Regulated niches (regulated-niches.md) may require more, for example health-care AI disclosure laws such as California AB 3030 for patient communications.
SMS first message: "Hi, this is the business's automated assistant."
Voice greeting: "Hi, you've reached the business. I'm an AI assistant and this call may be recorded. How can I help?" (The recording notice is required: PA all-party consent.)
Email signature: "Sent by the business's AI assistant on behalf of a team member. Reply to reach a person."
If asked "Are you a real person?": "I'm an AI assistant for the business. Want me to have the team reach out to you directly?"
Website / marketplace footer: "Our agents use artificial intelligence. They identify themselves as automated, and the business owner can review conversations and take over at any time. AI can make mistakes; important details (prices, schedules, warranties) are confirmed by the business."
Customer Agreement clause: "Customer will not configure any agent to deny being automated or to claim to be a human."
Web chat widget banner: "You're chatting with the business's AI assistant. A person can take over. Don't share card numbers or passwords here."
